Endeavor Energy, a leading independent power company focused on developing, acquiring, financing, constructing, owning, and operating power generation projects in Africa has donated GHS350,000 to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund.

“We are grateful for to the opportunity to help drive Ghana’s economic growth, create jobs, and secure its social system,” a statement from the company said.

The company made the donation at a short ceremony at the Jubilee house on 11th June .

Endeavor’s Chief Executive Officer, Sean Long commended Ghana’s leadership saying, “Since the first case of COVID was reported in Ghana, we have seen rapid intervention by the government.”

In addition, GHS150,000 worth of donations were made to institutions and communities where the company’s  power plants are located.

Early Power donation

On May 26th, 2020 Early Power, a subsidiary of Endeavor,  donated twenty standings fans to the Ga East Municipal Hospital whose central air-conditioning had failed, rendering a ward obsolete due to the poor ventilation.

The donation of fans allowed the hospital to reopen the ward and reintroduce twenty needed beds into circulation.

In addition,  Early Power and Twin City Energy have donated over a thousand PPEs to communities in the Greater Accra region and Western region.

The items include N95 nose masks, hundreds of veronica buckets to facilitate hand washing, hand sanitizers, face shields, and medicine, to the Kpone Katamanso community in Greater Accra and the Aboadze, Abuesi, Dwomo, and Inchaban communities in the Western Region.

These donations have been distributed across the Kpone District Headquarters Police Station, Kpone Health Clinic, and Save Them Young Orphanage.

The rest are Aboadze, Abuesi, Inchaban, Upper Inchaban and Dwomo Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, the Shama District Health Office and directly to members of these communities.

The start of a mutually beneficial relationship between Early Power and the Kpone Katamanso Municipality for the next two decades.

Kpone, Ghana – Early Power Limited, the Sponsor of the Ghana Bridge Power Project, was a special guest at the launch of the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly’s Sanitation Strategy held at Kpone on Saturday 18^th May 2019.  The event was hosted by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Solomon Appiah, and attended by Nii Tetteh Ottu II, Paramount Chief of Kpone and the Honourable Minister of Sanitation, Mrs Cecilia Dapaah. 

The KKMA’s vision to “improve the living conditions of the habitants of the district through the provision of effective and efficient services within a conducive physical socio-economic environment and a well-established legal framework” is in line with the pledge by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to make the Accra Metropolis the cleanest in Africa.

As part of its plans to achieve its vision and complement the Government of Ghana’s efforts to achieve the President’s objective, the Municipal Assembly has instituted a programme of quarterly clean up exercises in the various zonal councils within the Municipality.

At an event held on Saturday 18^th May 2019 to launch its sanitation strategy and programme the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Mr. Solomon T. Appiah, emphasized the important role sanitation plays in maintaining the health of the community.  “Sanitation related diseases cost the nation huge sums of money annually.  The government of the day realizing the urgent need to focus on sanitation has created a ministry solely for this purpose”, he added.

The Honourable Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who was the guest of honour during the launch inaugurated the Assembly’s Sanitation Strategy and Quarterly Clean up exercise and inducted a ten-member steering committee to implement the strategy and organize quarterly clean up exercises within the Municipality. According to the Minister, ‘’Ghana can only leverage on the tourism and industrialization policies if we have a clean and neat environment to attract tourists and investors’’. She further stated that “Government is attaching great importance to waste processing and recycling to transform waste into wealth and is prepared to live up to its responsibility by adequately providing all needed resources to complement the efforts of the Assemblies’’

Mr. Richard Badger, Deputy General Manager of Early Power Limited, represented the company at the event.  Early Power Limited is sponsoring the Ghana Bridge Power Project, located in the thermal power enclave within the Kpone Municipality.  The electricity generated will help to power Ghana’s homes, schools, offices, hospitals, and industries; and in the process create jobs, transfer skills, and add to Ghana’s energy infrastructure.

Mr. Badger commended the leadership of the Municipality on the steps it is taken to deal with sanitation issues.  “The truest mark of leadership is to shake people out of their comfort zones to do things they wouldn’t otherwise do on their own. The leadership of this Assembly is showing that it has the foresight and courage to do that. It is a strong signal that the Municipality is in good hands. That is reassuring to us as inhabitants and as a company”

As an initial contribution to the initiative, Early Power Limited donated 20 street dustbins to be placed in strategic places across the municipality.  In addition, the company is encouraging all its employees who live in the area to take part in the quarterly clean up exercises.

Mr. Badger explained that it is a matter of pride for Early Power Ltd to contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the municipality.  “As inhabitants of this promising municipality, we at Early Power Ltd share the goal of having a conducive physical environment and we are doing our part to help the municipality achieves its mission.  This is just the beginning of what we expect will be a peaceful and mutually beneficial relationship between Early Power Ltd and the Kpone Katamanso Municipality for the next two decades”, he said.

The programme at the launch event included a float distributing the Assembly’s sanitation by-laws and other activities to sensitise communities within the municipality to the importance of sanitation.
